Moments of Grace

Moments of Grace

Grace is Gratitude The word grace comes from the Latin root, “gratia,” which means pleasing and is also the root of the word “gratitude.” At its heart, grace is gratitude for all that is. Gratitude naturally results when you become aware of the events, processes, and coincidences that must happen to support your life. It is the realization that trillions of cells in your body all coordinate to give you life. Grace is gratitude for our blessings, despite our circumstances. Grace is gratitude for the gift of a blade of grass, the joy of a child, and the existence of the universe. (courtesy of Light House Media)

One of the greatest joys in my life is when I can do something for others. It is said that there are no selfless acts and, I suppose that’s true because even when you are helping another life will reward you with moments of grace. Grace can come in many forms. A helping hand when you need it, the kindness of a stranger, the gift of a beautiful sunset that sets the sky on fire. When you feel your heart sigh or your mind stilled into calmness that is a moment of grace.

I recently had the pleasure of helping a dear friend of mine. She joined me for 6 years fundraising and walking in the Philadelphia 3-Day. A 60 mile breast cancer walk. Over the years, we have walked hundreds of miles, laughed countless times and cried over stories that touched our hearts. This year a friend of hers was diagnosed with breast cancer and she decided to pick up her shoes and start walking again by doing the Avon-39 in honor of her friend. We brainstormed and came up with an idea for an afternoon “make and take” fundraiser. I supplied the bracelet parts and played “teacher”, and she supplied the food and fun. 35 women joined us to make their very own “Hope” bracelet similar to the one pictured with this post. Her event raised over $2000. I’m so proud of Sue for helping others. I’m so blessed to call her my friend. I’m so thankful for that moment of grace.

100% of the proceeds from the sale of the “Hope” bracelet will be donated to local charities that are helping women and their families through the battle against breast cancer. Every bit helps to make a difference in someone’s life. As you go through your day, remember to keep your heart and eyes open. Help others when you can. Pay attention to the small details. If you are open to inspiration, you will find your life filled with moments of grace.

Look for the key to life in the light of grace. ~ Skye
